Adam joined Venture as Project Manager after 10 years of experience in the industry. After graduating from University of Puget Sound with a BA in Business & Public Administration, he received a Certificate in Construction Management from the University of Washington. His strong background includes work as a Project Engineer for Sellen Construction, Senior PE/PM at Skanska USA Building, Inc., and VP of Construction/Operations at TW Vance Co. Working predominately in special project groups/commercial TI, he also has experience with commercial office, healthcare, military, aerospace, entertainment, education, public and private projects! He is excited for the opportunity to grow personally and professionally with Venture.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys supporting the local Seattle sport teams – Seahawks, Sounders, Mariners & Huskies.
Ashton joined Venture in October 15 after six years in the medical field, transitioning into the construction industry. She previously worked in medical reception in various settings, including urgent care, ER and clinical, after receiving a BA in English Literature from Western Washington University.
As she developed an interest in the field of construction, Ashton singled-out Venture for the team environment and long-term career opportunities. Although new to the industry, she is extremely motivated, organized, and effective at communicating.
Outside of work Ashton enjoy reading, spending time with her husband and dog, and travelling whenever she can!
BJ joined the Venture General Contracting team in the fall of 2014, and brings nearly a decade of commercial construction experience in the Seattle area to his role as Superintendent. Having grown up in a construction family where he was baptized to the jobsite at an early age, he has worked on such iconic Seattle projects as the Pike Place Market Renovation, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center – Cancer Care Expansion, and the 24-story Viktoria Apartments on 2nd Avenue.
His former roles have included MEP Engineer, Project Manager, Project Engineer and BIM Coordinator, and his hands-on nature eventually led him to his current role as Superintendent. He enjoys being part of a team and working towards a greater goal; embracing the challenges and roles involved in construction projects; and building relationships along the way.BJ earned a bachelor’s in science from the Michigan State University Construction Management Program and moved to the great Pacific Northwest shortly afterwards.
When he is not working he divides his time between his 110-year old house renovation and relaxing along the Teanaway River with his wife and family. He is a rabid Michigan State fan and believes that March Madness should be a national holiday. Sparty On!
Bob joined the Venture team in the summer of 2015, bringing over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Graduating with a BS in Building Construction from the University of Washington, Bob worked his way from Cost Engineer to Project Manager with a national general contractor. As Project Manager, he worked in a variety of market segments, including commercial, transportation, and multifamily. Bob’s most recently served as Project Manager for Kone Elevator, overseeing all elevator installation projects, managing contracts, scheduling, procuring materials, and more.
Outside of work, Bob gets to enjoy time with his family, chasing after his two sassy little girls. He also coaches soccer, skis, and spends time on the water stand-up paddle boarding.
Brian joined Venture General Contracting as an Assistant Superintendent in May 2014. With a strong background in construction project management, he has more than fifteen years’ experience including light commercial and wood-framed residential construction, environmental and field engineering. At the age of 24, he became owner of his own construction company and subcontractor for many companies located in Western Washington. His skills have allowed him to travel to several areas of the state for seismic upgrading on schools; to eastern Washington where he built concrete, wood and steel framed structures for the U.S. Army; and to serve as project manager building new residential wood-framed structures at Joint Base Lewis McChord.Brian is also a proud father of two girls and has been happily married for eleven years. In his free time, he loves to river fish for steelhead and salmon. His favorite quote is: “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking the rules, making mistakes and having fun.”
Brian has been in the construction industry for ten years and with Venture since May 2013. With an undergraduate Bachelor’s in Management from Purdue University he focused on Spanish and Manufacturing. Brian went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from Walden University with a focus in Project Management. Starting out as an Assistant Superintendent in single family residential, Brian then moved to Project Engineer role in mixed use buildings before taking on the estimator position with Venture. He loves the fast paced variety with tangible results.
Brian’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, kayaking, rafting and traveling the globe to appreciate architecture from Doric to Post Modern.
Brian joined Venture General Contracting in September 2014 as Superintendent. With more than 25 years’ construction industry experience, he started in framing houses and hotels and in 1989, when he moved from Spokane to Seattle, Wash. and became a member of the local carpenters union. In 2000 he joined Turner Construction Company, becoming a superintendent on tenant improvement, healthcare and historic renovations throughout the greater Seattle area.Brian and his wife Shelly have been married for 23 years and have two children who are both in college; one attends the University of Alaska and the other attends the University of Idaho. In his spare time, Brian and his wife love taking their RV all over the Puget Sound to camp and hike. Before joining the construction industry, Brian played professional soccer after high school in Ecuador, South America, then joined the Marine Corp where he was assigned to VMAQ-4 an EA-6 Squadron on Whidbey Island. He still dabbles in soccer as both a coach and a referee.
Brian joined the Venture team in June 2015, bringing over 16 years of management experience in occupational safety and risk management. Most recently the General Manager at Lawson & Associates, the largest safety consulting firm in Hawaii, Brian has also worked on local projects including CenturyLink and Safeco Fields, as well as high-rise residential, luxury resorts, medical research buildings, commercial buildings, and education facilities. He has implemented and directed numerous regional safety programs, with proven success in fast-paced, dynamic environments where safe operations are critical. As Venture’s Safety Director, Brian oversees the safety program company wide, ensuring that all involved on Venture’s projects remain safe.
Brian Welsh grew up in a construction family in Southern California and found his love for the industry in high school working as a draftsman and shop hand. Upon graduating from Oregon State University in 2007 with a degree in Construction Engineering Management, Brian moved to Seattle to begin his professional career. With project experience from commercial buildings, tenant improvements, retail and repair work, Brian has a varied skill set and adapts easily to project needs.Brian enjoys spending his time outside of work with his wife, new baby boy born in October 2014, and dog. He is an avid flag football player, spending two days a week playing, and enjoys snowboarding, golfing and being outside. Brian is a fan of the Seahawks and all things Oregon State.
Joining the Venture team in October 2015, Casey brings five years of experience to his position as Project Engineer. With a BS in Construction Management from Washington State University, he began as Technician for Pool World. Most recently, Casey worked as a Project Engineer for Terrene Ventures and Bayley Construction. He currently contributes his expertise in safety programs and key software tools to Venture’s Multifamily division.
When not focused on bringing projects in on time and under budget, Casey loves to ski and ride his motorcycle.
Chad started with Venture in November 2016 with 15 years of experience in the construction industry. His favorite aspect of this industry is the team environment and the daily challenges of helping a project run smooth and efficiently. As a Project Engineer, he will be managing and supporting the field operations on various projects and ensuring that the job gets done on time and on budget. Outside of work, Chad loves playing and watching sports.
Chad joined Venture with over 10 years of experience in the construction industry. He graduated with a BS in Political Science from the University of Idaho and has worked his way from being an Assistant Engineer, to Project Engineer, to a Project Manager. As Project Manager, Chad has worked in a wide array of market segments including correctional facilities, high rise multi-family, tech. offices/labs, and manufacturing facilities. With a strong background in cost reporting and budget control, he appreciates the team work and cooperation that is needed between clients, architects, and subcontractors in order to have a successful project.
Outside of Venture, Chad enjoys any activity that gets him outside such as skiing, biking, camping, golf, and basketball.
Chad joined Venture as an Assistant Superintendent in the Fall of 2015. He attended the Carpenters Apprenticeship School in Mt. Vernon, WA, and has gained 15 years of experience in construction. Chad spent many years working in retail and public works tenant improvement projects, before switching to the multifamily sector. His training as a carpenter through the apprenticeship, growing up as a third-generation carpenter/superintendent, and great attitude has led him to supervisory roles.
Cheryl joined Venture in January of 2014 after over 10 years in the legal field, transitioning into construction. She first worked within Howard S. Wright Construction with their internal lawyer and Regional Safety Manager. Cheryl was a Contract Administrator for Triad Development, managing all aspects of negotiated contracts with Subcontractors. Working with the special projects group at MacDonald Miller under the direction of Reis Tietge, she transitioned Johnson Barrow, to a 32 product line rep for commercial HVAC products working with Project Managers, Technicians and customers on factory installation, warranty and product support.Cheryl enjoys working in V.G.C.’s team environment where she can contribute her expertise to the success of each project. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places as well as spending time with her two children, friends. A pet lover, she shares her home with 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Christie joined the Venture team in October 2015. With an AA in Business Administration and over 10 years of experience in office administration, Christie brings top-notch organizational skills and a strong drive to keep the office running smoothly.
Outside of work, Christie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, as well as extended family and friends. She also loves to read, enjoys all kinds of music, and travels.
As a project engineer, Crystal brings more than 10 years of commercial real estate experience to her role at Venture General Contracting. With an expansive background in tenant improvement project management and renovations throughout the greater Seattle area, she has developed a passion for working with commercial historical properties. Her unwavering commitment to superior customer service has created long-standing relationships with landlords, tenants, brokers and architects throughout her career. When not working, Crystal enjoys spending time with her dog, running and enjoying the beautiful outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, a region she has called home her entire life.
Dan joined venture in February of 2015 and brought with him a wealth of experience he gained working on diverse projects throughout his 16 years in the industry. He began his career in Chicago as a laborer and progressed his way to foreman, assistant superintendent, and eventually a superintendent, simultaneously going to school at night to acquire his degree in Construction Management from The College of DuPage. While in Chicago he constructed surgery centers, banks, medical buildings, religious institutions, country clubs, an electronic fish barrier, and a large mixed bag of TI’s before heading to Seattle in 2011. His career in Washington has included the successful management and oversight of projects that include The Hampton Inn of Bellevue and the Seattle Premium Outlets 3 phase expansion. He also completed the construction of a retail building in Bellevue, seismic upgrade/face lift and addition to the Kelsey Creek Walmart/LA Fitness building, and guestroom remodels at the Historic Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle.Dan and his wife Laura have been married for 11 years and live in Seattle with their infant son Warner. When Dan isn’t at work he can be found chasing Salmon all over the Puget Sound, making and drinking wine, camping, hiking, and anything that has to do with the outdoors!
Devin joined the Venture General Contracting team in the summer of 2015. New to the construction industry, Devin’s background includes a BA in Law, Societies & Justice, with a focus in Latin American Human Rights, from the University of Washington. She previously worked with Architects Without Borders on the “Resilience by Design” sustainable development project in Cartagena, Colombia in 2014. Devin also brings experience as a Legal Intern and Paraeducator.
Don began at Venture in October 2015, bringing over 30 years of experience to his position as Project Manager in the Multifamily department. Starting as a laborer, and working as a carpenter and concrete mason, Don then earned his B.S. in Construction Management from Colorado State University. Upon graduating college, he worked as a Project Engineer, Estimator, and Project Manager on residential, commercial, military, local government and federal government projects.
Don brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. His work history includes vast experience in both mixed-use and tenant improvement projects throughout the state of Washington. Prior to getting into commercial construction, Don owned his own framing company and worked as a foreman/carpenter, giving him the hands-on experience needed to take a job from start to successful completion. Don joined Venture for the growth opportunities and to be consistently challenged. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting and racing motocross.
Erica joined Venture in February of 2015 and brings to the team fifteen years of financial experience in the construction industry. Prior to Venture, Erica was employed by a top national general contractor. Within that organization she held positions in project accounting, corporate audit, and managed the accounting department of the company’s Seattle office. Through those roles, Erica has experience with the intricate details of accounting for individual projects, evaluating policies, financial practices, and risk management at a companywide level, and the responsibilities of leading the day-to-day operations of a construction company finance department.Erica moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and has called Seattle home ever since. She is a proud Husky and Seattleite. Currently, Erica resides in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood with her husband. When not at the office Erica can be found enjoying the parks and beaches near her home. She enjoys cooking and entertaining, particularly in the summer when those activities can take place outdoors.
Erin joined the Venture team in February 2015. She graduated from Washington State University in December 2014 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, and brings experience from an engineering internship at an aerospace company. Erin was drawn to the construction industry because of the fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and is excited to be a part of the Venture group.Erin was raised in Spokane, and has family in both Seattle and Montana. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her Golden Retriever-Chloe, snowboarding, visiting family and friends, and time on the lake.
Erin joined Venture General Contracting as the HR & Training Manager in Fall of 2015. Her background includes 15 years of HR experience across a variety of industries. Erin hails from Washington State University and has Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
Evan joined Venture in September 2016 and brings 2 years of recent experience in the construction industry. Evan enjoys the hands on aspect of his job, being able to problem solve in the moment, and takes pride in knowing that he was an integral part of the finished product. Outside of work, Evan likes to spend time with his fiancé and walk his dogs in the beautiful PNW.
Starting in October 2014 as a part-time Accounting Assistant at Venture, Galyna fell in love with construction accounting due to its fascinating and fast-paced environment. Galyna greatly regarded the Venture team and its unique family spirit, and later accepted a full-time position.Prior to joining Venture, Galyna earned her Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Management of Business Administration at Odessa National Polytechnic University. Having moved to the United States from the Ukraine, she was interested in developing her knowledge of GAAP accounting, and obtained a Certificate of Accountancy at North Seattle College. Galyna’s first work experience was as an Office Assistant in a real estate agency. Throughout her college years she actively participated in maintaining and organizing activities for the NSCC Accounting Club, promoting Becker CPA Review Course as a Campus Ambassador. She also volunteered with the United Way Tax Preparation Campaign, providing assistance to those in need and helping them file tax returns, and the Real Change Organization, defending social, economic, and sex justice. Outside of accounting, her interests include travelling, hiking, reading, and yoga.
Geary joined the Venture team in the spring of 2015, bringing over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Starting at the age of 17, he owned his own company for 11 years and has been a superintendent since 1980. Geary has built commercial, apartments, medical, and mixed-use projects, and even spent two years working on airports for the FAA.
Originally from Texas, Geary has lived in Seattle since 1990. He enjoys playing pool, getting out on the water in his 24ft fishing boat, and riding motorcycles.
Gordon joined Venture in September 2016 with over 36 years of experience in the construction industry. His career includes works in an array of fields and market segments, but his favorite part of the job stays consistent: seeing a design plan turn into a physical product that people can enjoy in their daily lives. As an Assistant Superintendent, Gordon will ensure that the project status and schedule communication to the field as well as to the ownership is timely and accurate. Outside of work, you can find Gordon with his wife, visiting his grandchildren, or golfing.
Greg brings to Venture an impressive 35 years of experience in the construction industry. This experience includes 20 years as a general contractor that specialized in home building, remodeling, and custom millwork; and over 15 years as a Superintendent working in both the multi-family and Commercial TI market segments. His vast knowledge and passion in the field make him an integral part of the team. Greg joined Venture because he is excited for the opportunity to be a part of a growing leader in the industry, and he loves a company that highlights a team work approach.
When not working hard at Venture, Greg enjoys spending time with his friends and family and traveling/fishing whenever he can get away.
Jack joined the Venture team in July 2015. He graduated from Washington State University in May 2015 with a Construction Management Degree and Minor in Business, as well as OSHA 30 certification. In addition to his schooling, Jack brings experience from a previous internship with another local general contractor, and summer jobs as a door-to-door salesman in Oregon, California, and Texas. Jack’s background in sales led to his interest in a career that gets him out from behind his desk and working with a diverse group of people. Outside of work, he enjoys tennis, golf, skiing, and hanging out with family and friends. Immediately prior to joining Venture, Jack spent two months travelling the world.
With 10 years in the construction industry, Jake’s experience includes starting as a laborer working his way into Project Manager. Jake’s experience is in commercial construction overseeing projects for GSA, US Army/Air Force, US Marshalls, Pike Place PDA, and the Washington State Convention Center. Most recently he worked on the remodel of The Meydenbauer Center for The Bellevue Convention Center Authority. Jake holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Western Washington University and is certified in Construction Management and Lean Six Sigma Management. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, hiking, and reading.
Jason joined the team at Venture five years ago with 22 years of experience in the construction industry. He cut his teeth as a finish carpenter while in high school in Atlanta Georgia and moved into framing, siding and general remodeling. Very early in his career he opened Milestone Construction as a general contractor in Washington and Oregon. An upcoming single family superintendent, he climbed through the ranks while he completed a 6 year stint in the Washington National Guard as a Blackhawk Crew Chief. Jason gained notoriety at the Portland Street of Dreams completing 3 homes, one of which was awarded “Best of Show” and the “Golden Hammer” awards for being the first home complete among over a dozen other awards. The home was nationally recognized and had an exposé in Better Homes and Gardens. He moved into a multi-family construction manager position completing over 900 mixed use and residential units. While on Lonnie and Bruce’s team he has completed a number of large mixed use projects in the Seattle area.Jason’s hobbies include kayaking, rafting and most recently auto racing. Most weekends you can find him and his family working on numerous cars at Evergreen Speedway.
Jason joined Venture with a BA in Construction Management from Washington State University and 13 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. Jason brings skills in estimating and project management to our team and he is excited to be a part of a young, fast-growing company.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Leah, and his huge English labs, Beau and Lola.
Jim brought 24 years of experience to Venture when he joined the team in early 2015. With experience in projects ranging from tenant improvements to large-scale historical renovations, including the Pike Place Market, Jim has a collaborative, conscientious style of work that is an asset to any team. He is currently serving as Superintendent for the ICON mixed-use apartment building in the International District.
Jim spends his weekends out on the water, either in his sailboat or taking whitewater kayaking courses.
Joe’s beginnings in the construction industry stem from his work as a laborer in high school. He continued his career as a carpenter in residential construction, ultimately working on large apartment buildings throughout Kirkland and Seattle before joining Venture as a Carpenter Foreman.
Originally from Alaska, Joe likes to spend his time away from work outdoors, fishing, camping and boating. He also dedicates his time to his wife and 4-year-old daughter.
Josh has been in the construction industry for eight years and has both field and administrative experience. While working as a foreman, then later as an assistant superintendent, he went to night school where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management at the University of Washington. Over the years, Josh has worked on a vast array of projects, ranging from tribal casinos and parking garages to office spaces, retail stores and tenant improvements.Josh is a sports nut and when not working, he can be found glued to the TV analyzing a sporting competition, out on the golf course in the summer, or enjoying the mountains in the winter.
Justin’s diverse and creative background makes him a great fit as Carpenter Foreman for Venture. Initially beginning his work in the construction industry at the age of 17, he attended Cornish College of the Arts to study painting and print making, while continuing to work in the field during summers. In 2002, he received his teaching certificate, and brought both his teaching and construction experience to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit. After moving back to Seattle, Justin spent time remodeling houses – including his own – before transitioning into cabinet making, and joining Venture in April 2015.
Kimberly joined the Venture team in June 2016. She graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Interior Design and a minor in Construction Management, and brings experience from an internship with a residential construction company and work as a technical assistant in a fabrication lab. Kimberly was drawn to Venture because of the team atmosphere, the great location, and the growth opportunities. Outside of the office, Kimberly loves to ski, camp, and travel to warmer places.
Kristine has been in the construction industry for twelve years and with Venture since July 2015. With an educational background in plan reading and estimating, Kristine began her career as a Project Manager for a commercial subcontractor in food service design and installation. Most recently she moved to the Project Engineer role for a local general contractor and gained experience in multifamily, commercial, retail, healthcare, hospitality, and medical projects. With Venture, Kristine contributes as a Project Engineer for the Tenant Interior department.
Kristine’s hobbies include snowboarding, river rafting, camping, dirt bike riding, hiking, shopping, traveling, watching movies, and dining out.
Lester joined Venture in April of 2015, bringing four years of experience to his role as Project Engineer. He began in the construction industry in 2011 with a top national general contractor, working on multiple ground-up buildings, including apartments, a hotel, a football stadium, and a datacenter. Lester’s roles and responsibilities included serving as an engineering assistant, superintending, and systems application.In his free time, Lester spends as much time as he can on the golf course and enjoys attending Mariners games.
Lonnie began his construction career in Colorado where he founded his own full-service general contracting company. The company self-performed excavation, concrete work, masonry, framing and finish carpentry, steel studs and steel erection of pre-engineered metal structures as well as structural steel fabrication and erection. Lonnie has a diverse 35 year career in construction management. He prides himself on being a “craftsman builder” gaining his knowledge through hands-on experience in the trades.Lonnie brings to Venture General Contractors more than 13 years of recent multi-family supervisory experience on projects ranging up to $95 million with successful completions of schedule and budget
Mark’s entire career has been in the construction industry,starting right out of school and owning his own company at 22. His experience includes building spec homes for a bank, building on boats in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, building large custom homes in the Seattle area, helping to rebuild in New Orleans after Katrina, and focusing on quality control for a large general contractor.
When not working hard on Venture’s tenant improvement projects, Mark enjoys fishing, golf, and hobbies that allow him to work with his hands.
Matt has been with Venture General Contracting since Spring of 2012 after spending 27 years in the building industry. He started out working for 12 years on hospitals, parking garages, kidney centers and all sorts of commercial buildings. He has also built Super Wall Marts, grocery stores, a city block of Broadway and Pike retail stores, casinos in and out of the state as well as dorm rooms at Green River Community College and strip malls. Matt likes to build things and see how everything comes together at the finish.Matt enjoys travel, outdoors, working, building my next home and helping others.
Matt joined Venture in November 2015, bringing 10 years of industry experience and 8 years in project management to the role of Assistant Project Manager. He received his Construction Management certificate from the University of Washington and is a LEED Accredited Professional (BD&C). Matt’s background is well-rounded with involvement in multifamily, commercial, tenant interiors, and high-end residential market segments. He is passionate about environmental and financial concerns, and his experience with LEED-certified and HUD-financed projects reflects this.
When not quickly solving problems and keeping his team motivated, you’ll likely find Matt outside skiing, hiking, biking, or camping.
Matt joined Venture General Contracting in February of 2014. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration with emphasis in Management Information Systems from Washington State University. During his summer and winter breaks, he worked for W. G. Clark Construction as a laborer. After graduating, he became a project manager for American Interiors, a local door and hardware supplier. Throughout his time there he was actively involved in The Puget Sound Chapter of the Door and Hardware Institute and in 2010 was elected to serve on the board. In 2013 Matt went back to W. G. Clark, this time as a carpenter, and began coursework at The University of Washington for a Certificate in Construction Management.In his free time, Matt enjoys snowboarding, backpacking, home brewing, cooking and playing golf.
Megan joined the Venture team in the summer of 2015. She graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering. In addition to her schooling, Megan brings experience as an Engineering Intern for King County and Coughlin Porter Lundeen. Her education and internships ultimately led to her interest in construction, working with concrete, steel and timber designs, and learning how to review and edit project drawings.
Megan enjoys the challenges and obstacles of construction, and the supportive team that Venture provides. Outside of work you’ll find her playing soccer, cooking, snowboarding, watching the Food Network, and hanging out with friends.
Mike joined the Venture team in the summer of 2015, bringing over 15 years of experience in the construction industry. Graduating with a BS in Construction Management from the University of Washington, Mike has filled a variety of roles, including Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Superintendent. As Project Manager with a national general contractor, Mike worked on both ground-up construction and renovation projects for commercial and mixed-use buildings.
When not working, Mike enjoys spending as much time as he can outside.
Mike has been with Venture since the beginning, working at the Compass/Edmonds way project.He has been working in construction for over 20 years working starting in summers as a laborer. Mike has worked for Titan construction, Longitude 122 and Point Edwards. He enjoys learning new things and there is always something new to learn. Mike likes all the stages of the construction process and is proud of the completed project and he especially like that the process keeps him on his toes. Mike enjoys golfing occasionally but mostly enjoys time with his wife Stefanie and daughters Alyson and Aubrey as well as their Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Bridget.
Neal joined Venture General Contracting in November 2014. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2014 earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. While in school Neal participated in student clubs such as the Student Investment Club, interned for multiple companies in the finance industry, and was a co-captain on the PLU tennis team. New to the construction industry, he enjoys the fast-paced environment along with the comradery amongst the employees at Venture.In his free time, Neal enjoys playing sports, hiking, water/snow skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Nick joined Venture as an Assistant Project Manager in February 2016. He brings to Venture 5 years of experience in project management, working in market segments that include federal, multi-family, hospitality and education. Nick graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Construction Engineering and brings both people and technical skills to the team. When not at Venture, Nick can be found in the great outdoors either surfing, wakeboarding, or skiing!
Norah joined the Venture team in August 2015. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Structural Engineering. New to the construction industry, Norah brings experience in commercial building inspections. Her educational background in structural engineering gives Norah a unique perspective as a Project Engineer, and her strengths in multi-tasking and organization make her an asset to multifamily projects.
Norah was raised in Vancouver, WA, and, as a true Pacific Northwesterner, enjoys hiking, as well as playing soccer and spending time with her dogs.
Parker started at Venture in September 2016 and brings over 10 years of industry experience with him. Parker loves the hands on work that comes with his job, and enjoys being able to see the direct results from his hard work every day. Taking on challenging projects and finding ways to make things work is the most rewarding aspect of the job for Parker. As a Carpenter Foreman, he will be working with our Superintendents in the field and performing the essential functions needed to bring a project to completion. As a true Northwesterner, Parker loves spending time on the river and in the mountains, fishing and snowboarding.
Paula started with Venture in November 2013. She attended both Scottsdale and Bellevue colleges, majoring in business/accounting and has done accounting in the Property Management, Real Estate and Construction industry since 1986 . She worked with a Property Management/Development Company in Bellevue, doing property management accounting, construction accounting and corporate accounting until she came to work with us at Venture.Paula has lived in Maple Valley since 1997 with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. She loves being outdoors, sunny days, good friends and family. Most of her free time from Spring through Fall finds her involved with her daughter’s barrel racing competitions. Paula and her husband also enjoy riding motorcycles and exploring new areas whenever they can.
Richard brought over 30 years’ experience to V.G.C. when he joined us the spring of 2012, including the construction of over 5900 units, owning his own company and 14 years of project management experience. He started in the industry as a labor and worked his way up through the ranks as superintendent, project manager, construction manager, and owner’s representative. He has been involved in the construction of single family homes, condos, senior housing, multifamily, mixed use, and commercial projects. Richard enjoys the challenge of creating the team atmosphere and it takes to build the projects on time and budget. He knows each project that is built brings new insights to ways and means, which makes his experience a valuable addition to the Venture team.Richard enjoys spending time traveling with his wife and his best friends, who also happen to be his son and three daughters. His hobbies include boating, exploring beaches, hiking trails, riding motorcycles, and working with his son on collectible cars and trucks.
Rob joined the Venture team in the spring of 2016 and brings a total of 9 years of construction experience. He is currently finishing classes for a CAPM and is excited to further his career with a company like Venture. Rob’s hard working attitude and attention to detail make him an asset to the team. When not working, Rob enjoys playing his guitar and hiking in the beautiful PNW.
Robert joined Venture in September 2016 and brings with him over 16 years of experience in the construction industry. Robert appreciates how his job keeps him active and outdoors, and enjoys the challenges he gets to overcome daily. Outside of work, Robert enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, taking his RC car to the track, and being in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
Ryan brings to Venture over 16 years of experience in the industry. His past experience includes work in a wide array of market segments such as healthcare, aviation, data centers, sports arenas, commercial, and tenant improvements. In addition to working closely on the day-to-day management of the construction, schedule, and budget, Ryan also brings invaluable client relationships and takes great pride in his work ethic.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys staying active with hiking, golfing, and traveling.
Ryan joined Venture in April 2016 with 3 years of experience in the construction industry. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a BS and MS in Accounting, and is currently getting certified as a CPA. He brings previous experience in project accounting from a national general contractor and is excited to be at Venture to gain a fuller view of project accounting and to work with a growing firm.
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, spending time with his wife and enjoying Seattle’s food culture.
Prior to joining Venture, Sam’s innovative spirit led him to start two small companies of his own within the construction industry. He spent eight years in residential renovation, including drywall, paint, tile, cabinets, finish carpentry, and much more. Sam also dedicated two years to renovating smaller apartment buildings, doing TI updates and focusing on energy efficiencies. Outside of his businesses, Sam consulted for a variety of companies, from painting contractors to restauranteurs, with an emphasis on accurate stream-lined estimating and growing sales.Sam is a Seattle native and attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, double majoring in Economics and English. In his free time, he enjoys music, travelling, water activities, and movies.
Scott has been a carpenter for 28 years, and was a Superintendent for 10 years prior to joining Venture General Contracting in the fall of 2015. He began his career in new single-family home construction, moving into high-end residential remodeling, and eventually moving into the commercial construction market. In 2001 Scott began working in the construction defect repair industry, quickly working his way up to the position of Field Superintendent. Since then he has run projects upwards of $10 million, and also worked as an Assistant Superintendent on a large commercial project worth $26 million.
As a Superintendent, Scott strives to provide a quality product for clients, while surpassing the projected profit margin. He enjoys building relationships with the people he works with – within the company and outside contractors. Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, and sharing with them his hobbies of snowboarding and playing music. He played music professionally for many years, and also taught both of his sons to snowboard at the age of four. Getting outdoors and riding together keeps his family unit firmly bonded.
Scott brings 15 years of local construction industry experience to his role as project manager at Venture General Contracting. From the intricate to the substantial, his wide-ranging project background includes work on new ground-up buildings, shell and core, tenant improvements, healthcare, data centers and seismic upgrades. He has also served in a number of roles – from project manager and lead estimator to building information modeling (BIM) manager. Scott joined the Venture team after spending more than 13 years in the Seattle office of a top national general contractor he worked with a smaller general contractor in Spokane, Wash. prior to that. He is also a true local – having been born, raised and educated in the Seattle area – and he graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Construction Management in 2002. Scott currently resides in Poulsbo, Wash. with his wife and three children. In addition to spending time with his family, he is an avid skier and motorcyclist.
Seth has been in the construction industry for twelve years and with Venture since May 2015. Prior to receiving his BS in Construction Management from the University of Washington, Seth began his career as a Network Communications Data Technician, managing installation of hardware and services on construction projects for Microsoft, Boeing, and Virginia Mason Medical Center. Most recently Seth filled the role of Project Manager / Assistant Superintendent for Spartan Concrete, where he specialized in mixed-use and multifamily concrete construction projects in the Seattle area.
Outside of work, Seth enjoys spending time with his wife and working on hobbies.
Sim is an experienced project superintendent with 25 years of experience in the construction industry and more than a decade of recent work on mixed use construction projects. Sim takes pride in building relationships with all project stakeholders, and he enjoys the process of seeing an Owner/Architects vision come to life into a building that people will use in their daily lives. With proven leadership, subcontractor performance management, and field experience, Sim is a strong addition to our multifamily team.
As Financial Controller, Steve joined Venture General Contracting after retiring from more than 30 years working at Turner Construction Company, where he spent the last eight years commuting from Seattle to Los Angeles and Atlanta as Vice President and Regional Controller. He began his construction industry career in Boston, Mass., then relocated to San Francisco, Calif. before settling in Seattle, Wash. in 1989. At Venture, he is responsible for leadership of financial systems along with developing new streamline processes related to transparent accounting practices.As a baseball fanatic, Steve has organized an annual spring training trip for the past 10 years with former coworkers. Upon retiring from Turner, his Red Sox season tickets were traded in for Mariner’s tickets. Once an avid follower of the Grateful Dead, he now happily follows the Dave Matthews Band to fill the void after that relationship came to an end. He enjoys traveling for pleasure these days, and often finds himself at concerts or baseball games. His younger daughter went to college in Boston and now calls it home, while his older daughter shares his Ballard home and works in the construction industry, as well.
Steve brought over 20 years of experience in Network Infrastructure Support and I.T. Management to the Venture team when he joined in May 2015. While performing various Systems and Network Support roles in industries ranging from Hotel and Resorts to Construction he has learned that versatility and value are the key.
Steve’s hobbies include riding motorcycles, racing, and spending time with his family.
Tim has been in the construction industry his entire career. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Washington State University, he started out as an assistant superintendent on an 850 unit multi-family project in Southern California. Working in California, Louisiana, Idaho and Washington, he has sharpened his skills as a construction manager. Tim likes being outdoors in the mud and dirt, rain or shine; he also enjoys the day by day change and challenge of his profession.In his down time, he loves boating, fixing up homes and spending time with his wife, three children and especially his brand new granddaughter.
Todd is not the kind of guy who can sit at a desk – which made him a perfect addition to the Venture team. He was raised in Seattle, born into this field with a carpenter / superintendent father whom he often shadowed on weekends to jobsites. Growing up, Todd learned the value of working hard and honing his craft. In his early twenties he participated in the Renton Technical College Apprenticeship Program and worked closely with masters at their trade, learning everything from concrete to interior finishes to jobsite communication skills. Todd has had the pleasure of working on numerous projects in the Northwest, serving a wide range of the community including schools, offices, medical centers and churches. As a superintendent he enjoys the complexities of managing construction projects and working with a team to accomplish project goals, always keeping a close eye on safety and quality.Todd enjoys his free time with family by heading out into the wilderness, camping in the summer and chasing the ever-elusive snow in the mountains to snowboard with his kids in the winter.
Travis Rea joined Venture General Contracting as an Assistant Superintendent in December 2015. Entering the construction industry as early as high school, doing framing and home repair in California, Travis obtained a Foreman position in Seattle immediately after college. He was a Superintendent for a residential and commercial remodel company working on multi-family complexes, custom homes, and commercial businesses and buildings for 5 years. Travis also owned his own business performing minor TI remodels, and spent the last two years working on TI projects.
Travis has been with Venture General Contracting since August 2013, where he serves as Assistant Superintendent. With more than ten years’ experience in the construction industry, he began building houses as a side job while studying mechanical design in college and decided to pursue it as a full time career upon graduating. He loves construction more than ever today – and especially enjoys the variety of accomplishments that can be achieved every day, the hands-on nature of the industry and the creativity that is required to overcome challenges.An avid outdoorsman, Travis loves hiking, camping and nature. Most weekends you can find him and his wife hiking, exploring or just relaxing by the fire with a book.
Trevor joined Venture in September 2016 as an Accounting Intern and is brand new to the industry. He is excited about his introduction to the construction industry, and his favorite thing thus far is the emphasis on a great team environment. As an intern, Trevor will assist with the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, with a focus on Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, golfing, and watching baseball and football.
Tyler joined the Venture team as a Project Manager in September 2015. He brings seven years of experience in the construction industry, spending five years with a general contractor in New York City. Tyler has worked as an Assistant Estimator / Bid Coordinator and Project Manager within the commercial and retail market segments. His big city experience has made Tyler accustomed to an accelerated pace and heightened demand to reach, and surpass, project goals.
Tyler worked in the construction industry for 15 years prior to joining Venture during the summer of 2015. He began his career in construction as a carpenter, prior to receiving his degree in Building Construction Technology. Returning to the field as a lead carpenter, Tyler quickly moved into the roles of Project Manager and Superintendent, also completing the NW College of Construction AGC Superintendent Training Program.
Throughout his career, he has worked on projects within multifamily, commercial, and public market segments. Tyler has developed a continuous and successful record of delivering consistent results on time and within project budget, and is skilled at identifying potential project risks while mitigating cost effective solutions to problems. On site, he is reliable at managing multiple projects, coordinating crews and sub-contractors, and maintaining a safe and positive work environment.
Matt Parent serves as the President of Venture General Contracting. A 25 year veteran of the construction industry, Matt is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Venture including all processes from site due-diligence through punch-list. Prior to joining Venture General Construction, Matt spent six years with Turner Construction – first as a Project Manager, then as a Senior Project Manager and eventually promoted to Manager of Turner’s office in Bellevue, WA.
Matt exudes energy and a genuine enthusiasm for the building industry, which has always been a big part of his life. He got a taste of the industry working summers for a Seattle-area production homebuilder, and then worked his way up to vice president of a family construction business.
When he is not tackling construction projects head-on, Matt can be found attending his children’s sporting events or boating on Puget Sound.
Jack Beaudoin has very broad experience in the construction industry, privileged to work over the years with many of the prominent developers, end users, tenants, designers, and real estate professionals in our community bringing many a challenging project to a successful completion. He enjoys leadership roles and getting others involved. Jack is very strategic and is known as an innovator and creative problem solver. Jack brings to Venture the experience gained from his accomplished career at the Seattle office of a large national general contractor. As General Manager, he lead Turner to be an innovative, trusted, builder becoming the largest general contractor in Seattle; and as Division Manager building one of the great tenant improvement companies in Seattle and the Eastside.
Jack is excited to work with the Venture team building a locally owned construction firm that understands clients want a solution oriented builder, which values strong partnerships found in our community and the vitality found in the innovative spirit that is Seattle. Jack resides in Seattle with his wife and children.
Darin brings over 18 years in the construction industry, with extensive experience throughout the Puget Sound and Canada. His background includes work in commercial interiors, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, and medical market segments.
With more than 16 years’ in the construction industry, Jen’s experience includes overseeing the development of large scale laboratory research facilities, seismic retrofits, developing and building multi-family housing and furthering projects focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability. She previously served as Chief Operating Officer for a national multi-family real estate development company and was also an owner’s representative for a large international software company. Jen holds bachelor’s degrees in Construction Management and Political Science from the University of Washington and an MBA from Seattle University. She is a Board Member of Associates in Cultural Exchange and, in her spare time, enjoys reading, golf and travel.
