Venture is Salmon Safe Accredited!

Posted by Venture General Contracting on Apr 22

We’re proud to announce that Venture is the newest Salmon Safe Accredited General Contractor in the PNW! We join 6 other large GC’s who have previously gone through the accreditation process.

Following site inspections on three of our active projects, Salmon Safe and their independent expert evaluator awarded accreditation based on exemplary pollution prevention practices and commitment to water quality protection across our construction operations.

The survival of Orcas is the local environmental news of our time; and runoff from roadways, farms and construction impact salmon survival as they come back to spawn. Development is having a negative impact on the fish, and we are excited to be acknowledged for doing our part in protecting the water flowing into the salmon habitat. This is an important step to providing a high standard of water quality for the fish in the watersheds that our jobsites reside.

Venture Partner, Jack Beaudoin, first met with Salmon Safe at a micro-brewery event called “Drink like a Fish” in the early 2000's. The event highlighted how a partnership between Salmon Safe and PCC developed new incentives to clean up farm runoff to the watershed. After a discussion on how impactful construction is to runoff, Jack worked with Salmon Safe to pilot the accreditation program for zero sediment runoff in large-scale construction.

We’re thrilled to be in the company of large developers; multiple municipalities like Redmond, Tacoma and Seattle; and six other general contractors who are leading the way in preventing local environmental issues.

"Salmon-Safe recognizes the leadership of Venture Partner, Jack Beaudoin, who helped inspire our accreditation program for zero sediment runoff in large-scale construction. We piloted the program and tested BMP strategies at Jack’s construction sites across Puget Sound. His many years of environmentally innovative construction practices helped provide a foundation for Salmon-Safe’s beyond compliance standards.
